Sugar Beets
Sugar Beets provide a very leafy, very palatable, nutritious forage for all wildlife. Deer will eat the leaves and the root.
Sugar Beets provide very high digestibility, which means the deer will benefit substantially from the beet mineral uptake.
Sugar beets have an exceptional winter carryover value with high sugar and protein contents.
Establishment
Plant 1/4″ to 1/3″ depth.
Sugar beets will grow in many soils and conditions, but meet their potential when grown in good soils.
Plant Sugar Beets 1″ inch apart if planted in rows and then thin the plants when they grow 4 to 6 leaves, spacing the plants 10 to 12 inches apart. Good row spacing should be 18 to 24 inches apart.
