There are many types of peat. Peat is a natural, organic soil conditioner that regulates moisture and air around plant roots for ideal root zone growing conditions. A well-blended root zone mixture can help promote faster grow-in, optimize drainage, and reduce water and fertilizer usage.
Verdesian’s N-Dure has a type of peat called peat humus. Peat humus is the most decomposed of all of the peat types, making it rank first for preferred usage as an organic soil amendment and a topdressing. Peat Humus is an organic, stable, long lasting remnant of decaying organic material. It improves soil structure and increases water retention. Peat Humus is beneficial because it has extremely high absorption abilities. It can hold and release water and nutrients as needed. It also improves the physical structure of soil. Peat Humus has a low C:N (carbon-nitrogen) ratio, which is a key factor in choosing an organic amendment. The C:N ratio shows the state of decomposition of a material. Higher C:N ratios (i.e. less decomposed materials) tie up the release of nitrogen and starve the root zone of vital nutrients. Basically, the less decomposed a material is, the more it competes with the plant for the same essential elements.
Verdesian’s N-Dure inoculation does not contain any genetically modified organisms, has not received any sterilization by irradiation and does not contain any prohibited synthetic or non-synthetic ingredients. Inoculating seed is very important because inoculation has specific properties that will assure effective nitrogen fixation. INTX’s N-DURE inoculations’ high potency can yield results in a wide range of conditions. However, its use is not recommended on first-year ground. All legumes (including trefoil) can establish and survive without nitrogen-fixing bacteria, but plants cannot fix nitrogen. This means that without added nitrogen, plants will have a yellowish appearance and yields will be low, so there are many benefits besides the increases nitrogen (and decreased cost of fertilizer) by using inoculation.
Although no special equipment is needed for application, there are two ways to inoculate your seed. One is to inoculate the seed by mixing the inoculation with a small amount of liquid to aid in seed adhesion and applied at the time of planting. (Keep in mind, very little liquid is needed if inoculating with a liquid!) Another popular form of inoculation is to buy your seed pre-inoculated. This is done using a professional mixer and mixing the seed with the inoculation, keeping the inoculation on the seed in the bag. Keep inoculation in a cool, dry, dark location and use before the expiration date.
